2010-2011 Indoor Soccer Season: DO YOU WANT TO PLAY Indoor Soccer? - Published on July 30th, 2010 |
Dear Soccer Enthusiasts,
In an effort to continue indoor soccer throughout the fall
and winter months (since Mike Doyle is retiring from hosting
the indoor drop-in sessions) and take advantage of the
AMAZING new field-house facility, a group of individuals
have formed an organizing committee to coordinate, prepare
and schedule sessions for the 2010-2011 indoor season.
In order to reserve the appropriate amount of time with the
City of Yellowknife, we need to gauge the interest within
the soccer community. There are a few key pieces of
information that you all should be aware of when responding
to this email:
- There will be 6 players on the pitch per team (including
goalie);
- At least 2 of the 6 players must be of the other gender
(i.e. 4 guys & 2 girls or 2guys & 4 girls or 3 guys
& 3 girls);
- Games will be two 25 minute halves;
- Each team will be required to provide one referee to the
League (refs will earn $40/game);
- The season will go from September 14th to the end of
April (7 months of soccer);
- The goal is to obtain 10 teams for League play with the
possibility and having a recreational and competitive
division if necessary and/or desired;
- We would like to be able offer players 2 games/week;
- We would like to ideally have one night of drop-in in
addition to League play;
- Drop-in sessions would be approximately $200 per
individual for one evening for the entire season (so
Tuesdays all year);
- Games will be scheduled on Tuesday or Wednesday,
Thursday and Saturday;
- The approximate cost per team for League play is ~$3900,
so depending on how many players a team has on its roster
will determine the individual cost (i.e. 10 people = $390
per person, 13 people = $300per person). These costs will
be finalized as we find out how many teams and players are
interested;
- Fees will be due by September 6th, 2010. Teams paying
late won't be accepted as field time will be added or
removed on September 7th;
In order to determine if we can even have a League or
drop-in at all, we need to know the following information by
August 23rd:
- We need ten (10) team captains to step up and come
forward with a DRAFT roster of ten to fifteen (10-15)
players (please send to krista.chin@inac.gc.ca);
- Captains must indicate if their team would most likely be
competitive or recreational;
- All players without a team interested in playing should
contact krista.chin@inac.gc.ca to be put on a team;
- We would like to know if each player is interested in
playing drop-in and/or in a League.
Please respond AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can figure out how
to continue soccer in the fall!!!!
Much Appreciated,
YK Adult Indoor Soccer Organizing Committee

Safe Play - Published on June 17th, 2010 |
YKOSL Members,
Just wanted to remind everyone to play with caution.
Naturally, we all want to see a competitive season, however,
not at the expense of serious injuries (unfortunately some
have already occurred). Please avoid ill-timed challenges or
dangerous play if you have any doubts going in. Off the
pitch, our members have jobs and responsibilities and we
don't want serious injuries sustained in a match to
adversely affect those facets of life.
Play hard but play safe.
