Indoor Season Playoff Format - Published on January 21st, 2012 |
At Monday's Team Captains/Exec Meeting, the team captains of both the Rec and Competitive Divisions opted for the following playoff format:
The 7th place team plays the 6th place team, with the loser
eliminated. Then, the winner of that game plays the 3rd place team, and
the 4th and 5th place teams play each other. The winners of those games
advance to semi finals against the 2nd and 1st place teams, respectively (6
games total).
Approximately 1.5 weeks will be set aside at the end of the season for playoffs.

YKASL Update and Team Captains Meeting December 5th - Published on November 19th, 2011 |
YKASL Members,
The Exec held a meeting on Friday, November 11. A few issues were discussed that all YKASL members should be aware of:
All YKASL members need to ensure that they are in compliance with the NWTSA's Player Equipment Policy. If you fail to adhere to these requirements, you will be placing yourself at risk of legal liability should your actions lead to another player being injured. This Policy is currently under review and can be found at http://www.nwtkicks.ca/governance/player-equipment-policy .
There was recently an altercation that occurred at the end of a game that involved members of both teams. The League will not tolerate any this kind of unsportsmanlike behaviour as it doesn’t help promote a fun enjoyable soccer environment and reflects poorly upon the League. Subsequently, these two teams have been penalized $50 from their performance bonds. Captains of teams have a particular responsibility for ensuring that the conduct of your team does not get out of hand and all Members are responsible to conduct yourselves appropriately before, during, and after a game. Any future instances of poor conduct by multiple team members will lead to serious consequences up to and including expulsion of the offending team(s) from the YKASL, in addition to performance bond penalties.
The player transfer policy has been revised and is now posted on the website. From now on, when a transfer is requested, it should be sent to the YKASL President. The YKASL President will forward the request to the captains of the teams the player intends to transfer to and from and ask if either captain has concerns with the proposed transfer. If no concerns are raised, the transfer may be approved without the need for a sub-committee of the Exec to consider it. If concerns are raised, or if there are other reasons the request may need further consideration, a sub-committee of the Exec will be struck to consider the transfer. A decision on the transfer request will be made within two weeks of receipt of the request.
The player transfer deadline for the Indoor Season will be Friday, January 20, 2012.
There will be a mandatory Team Captains/Exec Meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 5. The meeting will be held in the Sport North Boardroom which is on the 3rd floor of the Don Cooper Building (the blue 3 storey building beside the Black Knight), please come to the front door.
Regards,
YKASL Executive
